How To Play Graphic

Overview Objective and Setup Graphic

The object of the game is to be the last Medusa still moving.

Players hold up 5 fingers with their off hand. That's 5 health!

Keep that hand up between rounds to track how much damage you have left before you are overcome and get turned to stone.

Players will plan an action to perform each round with their primary hand.

Choice Graphic

Each player will be choosing either Snakes or Mirrors after a countdown.

Players choosing snakes will point at any other player using either one, two, or three fingers. Those fingers are SNAKES!

Players choosing mirrors will choose to hold up either two or three fingers in front of their face. Holding up 1 is not allowed!

Choice Graphic

Now we're ready for the first round. Start the countdown - 3 - 2 - 1 - POSE!

At the same time, everyone either points with snakes or holds up mirrors in defense.

Damage Resolution Graphic

Here's how we resolve damage.

Snakes want to be different.

If you point with snakes at a mirror with a different finger count, or you are pointing toward snake player with less fingers pointing (even if they aren't pointing at you), you deal damage.

You deal damage equal to all your pointing fingers to mismatched mirrors, and damage equal to the difference of your pointing fingers at lower-finger-count snake players.

Example 1: Brenda has 3 fingers (snakes) pointed at Jess. Jess has a 2-finger mirror held up. Brenda deals 3 damage to Jess! She snuck those snakes past the mirror.
Example 2: Here we have 3-way pointing between Josh, Sasha, and Charlie. Josh has a 2-finger snake attack pointed at Charlie, who has 1-finger snake attack pointed at Sasha. Josh has 1 more finger pointed at Charlie than Charlie has showing (even though Charlie isn't even pointing back), so Josh deals 1 damage to Charlie. Charlie's comparison e pointing at Sasha is resolved separately.

Mirrors, however, want an exact match.

If you are holding up a mirror, you reflect back any snake attack pointing at you with the exact same number of fingers.

The snake player takes full damage equal to their snakes and you take nothing. This is true of each player pointing the same number at you.

Example 3: Zoe is battling three other players. She is holding up a 2-finger mirror and being attacked by three different snake attackers - two 2-finger snake attacks and one 3-finger snake attack. She would reflect the 2-finger snake attack from Colin and Mirian, dealing 2 damage to each of them. However, Bill's 3-finger snake attack sneaks through and deals the full 3 damage to Brenda. Ouch!

If no one is pointing at you, lower your mirror.

Players aren't eliminated until the end of the round, so all comparisons will always happen.

Game Ending Graphic

When the comparisons are over, the round is over.

Players with zero health are turned to stone!

Repeat rounds until 1 player is left.

Then play again!
