About Knives
In a land far, far away, a nation falls to a deadly coup. You are an assassin hired to eliminate this nation’s governing officials. Here, the truth is more dangerous than a lie, and a lie is the only path to victory. You will have to outsmart your opponents and make friends into foes to become the Best Assassin, gaining total glory, and establishing your authority in the new government.
Knives is a bluffing card game designed by Myron Highsmith, a long-time hobbyist game designer & social deduction game fanatic with art by Laura Bartlett and Grace Halley.
The game plays similar to the classic game of BS. Each player gets a hand of cards with specific powers, and the first player to play all of their cards, telling the truth or lying, wins.
Why did I design Knives?
At heart, I’m a social deduction game lover. It trapped me in the world of board games and still hasn’t let go of me. However, most social-deduction games require a lot of experienced players to make it really fun and worthwhile to run a game. I wanted a social deduction game that could be played with far less people that was also easy to break out anytime. That’s when the idea for Knives hit me.
How do I think Knives turned out?
It’s a fun game to play and very difficult to master, which is exactly how I like my games. At the same time, it’s probably the most casual & portable social deduction game I’ve played, so I also hit my goal there!
