Description

Introduction-Label.png

The Luck of the Dwarvish Mining Company’s founder is retiring, and since he has no family, he has decided to give the company to one of you, his 2 best employees. He devised a competition to test your skills and determine who is most deserving of this honor. In this competition you will be exploring a recently discovered cave, where you will mine gems, collect artifacts, runestones, and gold, and use a G.P.S., or Gem Portal Spawner, to teleport gems for order fulfillment. Whoever earns the most gold bars will become the new owner of the Luck of the Dwarvish Mining Company.

Good luck!

Turn-Overview.png

Each turn consists of 4 phases:

Explore Phase
Mine & Collect Phase
G.P.S. Phase
Illuminate Phase

Explore-Phase.png

In the Explore Phase you move your Dwarf past your opponent's Dwarf to any face up Cave Card. There are always 7 face up Cave Cards ahead of the Dwarf that is furthest ahead, with a couple of exceptions. You may move as far forward as you wish, as long as you pass your opponent's Dwarf. However, every 2nd Cave Card you skip will go to your opponent on their next turn.

Mine---Collect-Phase.png

In the Mine & Collect Phase you take or discard the Cave Card your Dwarf was on at the start of your turn and every 2nd Cave Card your opponent skipped on their previous turn. The Cave Cards have a variety of items to mine and collect. There are 4 types of gems, each with different values, 4 types of Ancient Artifacts, Luck Runestones, Forgotten Gold, and Chests with gems and such. There are also a few hindrances such as Collapsed Caves, Greedy Goblins, and a Dreaming Dragon, that can stop you in your tracks or make you discard a card.

At any time during this phase you may use an available Advantage Card. Advantages are single-use special abilities that allow you to take more cards than you otherwise would, but they come at a cost. At the end of the game you lose Gold Bars for each Advantage you used.

After you have mined, collected, and possibly used an Advantage, you discard any Cave Cards remaining behind both Dwarves.

The Luck of the Dwarvish Mining Company does not make their customers wait very long for their gems. That's why in the G.P.S Phase you can use your G.P.S., Gem Portal Spawner, to spawn a a small portal that allows you to send gems back to the company to fulfill Gem Orders (use your imagination). To fulfill a Gem Order, discard the color and number of gems shown on the Gem Order Card and take the card. Gems are much more valuable when fulfilling orders than at the end of the game, so use them wisely.

After fulfilling a Gem Order, replace the card you took with a card from the top of the Gem Order Deck. You may fulfill as many orders as you can.

Illuminate-Phase.png

In the Illuminate Phase you draw cards from the top of the Cave Deck and add them face up to the end of the cave until there are 7 face up Cave Cards past your Dwarf, with some exceptions.

After drawing and placing Cave Cards, your turn ends and your opponent's begins.

Game-End.png

The game ends when you and your opponent have both ended your turns on the Cave Exit Card.

You then add all of the Gold Bars you've earned from fulfilling Gem Orders, finding Forgotten Gold, collecting sets of Ancient Artifacts, having the most Luck Runestones, maybe even a little from leftover gems in your gem bag. Don't forget to foreit Gold Bars for those Advantages you took.

If you ended the game with the most Gold Bars, you've just won ownership of the Luck of the Dwarvish Mining Company!

Congratulations!
