Description
Premise- In the Land of Skor, The Council of the Magus' have met, and they are willing to allow you into their cabal, once you have proved your worth. You must battle primal Elementals the Arena, showing your mastery of them. Survive, and best your opposition, and you will be on a path towards greatness!
Mage Madness! Is a fun, fast paced and constantly changing puzzle/combat game. You venture into the Arena to battle the Vicious elemental monsters. You search for magical rods with unique attack patterns to destroy the Elementals, spell-bound robes to armor yourself against them, and magical amulets to bend them to your will. Whomever vanquishes the most is crowned the victor, but beware; there are powerful spells hidden in the arena that can easily turn the tide... Who shall be victorious?
Gameplay- Unpack box contents and separate the tokens and decks, then shuffle well and place to the side of the playing area. Each player chooses a colored Avatar to represent them and then they take 4 red health tokens. The players place the tokens in front of them, in their area. The Arena Map cards are laid out touching each other, face up on the playing area, and the players Avatars are placed in any chosen square, so long as there are not more than 1 per map tile. The players choose who goes first and then go clockwise. Each player then draws 4 search cards. Once each player has drawn, the players can discard and re-draw up to all of their cards, but must keep whatever they get that time. Players can have up to 4 cards in their hand and 1 each (Rod, Robe, Amulet) equipped to their Mage. Cards are equipped by laying them face up in front of the player. Equipment can be switched out at the end of the players turn (before any discarding), if they have spares. All discarded cards are placed face down near the deck. If the Search deck runs out, reshuffle the discard pile and continue. If a player has a Spell card, it can be played at any time (once per round), even during another players turn. Discard a spell card after use. The first Elemental card is drawn, placing 2 of whatever elemental type in each map tile. They are placed at random, but not touching any Mage, unless there are no other open squares. The game now begins with the first player taking action. During their turn, each player can Move up to 4 squares in any direction (diagonal included, but not through things), Attack with their magic Rod following its attack pattern (1 square on the card = 1 square on the map) and effects (if it "explodes" it destroys any "weak vs" Elementals immediately adjacent to it), cast 1 Spell (if they have any) and Search by drawing 1 card from the search deck. Any time a player kills an Elemental, place its token in that player's area. The player with the most kills at the end of the game wins. At the end of each round, all of the Elementals move 1 square towards whichever player is closest to them. At the beginning of each player's turn, any Elemental that is immediately adjacent to them will deal 1 damage unless otherwise stated by their equipped Robe. If a player is killed, they must discard the cards that are in their hand, but not their equipment. They also lose half of their kills, rounded up. Place any lost tokens back into their own piles. The game continues until all Elementals are destroyed. Repeat and enjoy!
This game contains laser cut components. Laser cut items will have a slight amount of soot around the edges, which can easily be wiped off; and will have a campfire smell for about a week after you open them.
