Master of Keys

Mint Tin Contest Note This is the original entry. The edited entry Master of Keys: Twin pack has a separate shop page because:

• I did not know how much editing was allowed (and if the restriction applied, since officially speaking Master of Keys did not make the semifinals).
• The edited entry has components for two games (since effectively the second copy is half free due production properties).
• The key set in the edited entry was adjusted so that exact match is possible for all lock combinations (although only numbers 1-3 were used).

Overview

Game has 10 "key" tiles which you can mostly see through. Keys can be rotated or flipped in any way. When you pile them as a deck they form a key pattern.

The object of the game is to manipulate the key deck so that the formed key pattern is close enough to a randomized lock pattern.

Setup

Roll the dice and place them by color in the designated areas within the mint tin. Flip any 5s or 6s to their opposite side.

More Challenge? Try playing against a move or a time limit.

Playing

Make moves until you are done. A move consists of

1. picking up 1-10 of keys from the top of the key deck as a stack;
2. rotating and/or flipping the stack as whole; and then
3. placing the stack back to the top of the key deck.

Game End / Winning

You win when your key pattern matches at least five of the dice defining the lock pattern.

More players?

If you have multiple copies available, then you can compete against each other with a common lock pattern. The fastest player to form a winning key pattern wins.
