Setup
- Shuffle cards thoroughly.
- Each player gets two cards (called Personal Cards); this makes their hand intrinsically unique (see Rules.3). Personal cards may be looked at anytime by their owner yet should not be seen by anyone else (see Notes.1).
- Nine cards are laid face down in a 3x3 grid (called The Grid).
Rules
- Turns go in a circle clockwise from dealer's left.
A player can do one of four moves on their turn:
- Sneak: Look at ANY 3 cards in The Grid without anyone else seeing (look at each card only once).
- Shuffle: Switch the places of 2 or 3 cards in The Grid without looking at the cards.
- Swap: Switch 1 card in The Grid with 1 Personal Card (Do NOT look at the card in The Grid before switching. You can sneak or swap, but not both).
- Call "MemoRandom!"
Calling "MemoRandom!":
A player calls "MemoRandom!" at the beginning of their turn when they believe they have a winning hand.
- After "MemoRandom!" is called, each player must choose a row, column, or diagonal of 3 cards within The Grid. Players may choose the same row, column, or diagonal as each other.
- The row, column, or diagonal for each person must be indicated BEFORE flipping the cards over.
- The 3 cards of each chosen row, column, or diagonal in addition to the 2 Personal Cards creates a 5 card hand for each player.
- All The Grid and Personal Cards are flipped over to reveal the configuration of the game. Hands are tabulated for corresponding value (see Scoring).
Scoring
- Games are played to a desired point amount (suggested cap is 5 points).
- A set consists of a 5 card hand of:
- one color
- one shape
- one number
- If the player who called 'MemoRandom!" has a set, that player receives 1 point. All other players receive 1 point if they also have a set.
- If the player who called "MemoRandom!" does not have a set, that player loses 1 point. All other players receive 1 point if they have a set.
Notes
The following are suggested guidelines. How players want to play is the ultimate authority for house rules.
- Personal Cards should remain FACE DOWN unless being looked at and REMAIN IN THE SAME PLACE so that other players may keep track of cards after swaps.
- For a faster, easier game, dispense only 1 Personal Card (a set being 4 cards).
- If the card back design has orientation, keep all the cards oriented in the same direction as not to give external clues of card contents.
- Wildcards: 3 Wildcards (and one QR card) are included in the deck. Wildcards stand for any color, shape, or number desired. Retain or remove to your liking.
- Decide if NOTE TAKING is allowed!!
