In Mental Mess, the goal is simple: accumulate the fewest points possible! Over four rounds, players use their cards strategically and take advantage of special effects to keep their scores low while trying to put their opponents in a bind.

How to Play

1. Quick and Easy Setup: Each player receives four cards placed face down in a personal grid, memorizing just two of them. The key is to remember your cards and take advantage of every move to stay ahead.

2. Strategic Choices Each Turn: On each turn, players choose to draw a card either from the deck or the discard pile. You can activate the card’s special effect, discard it, or replace one of the hidden cards in your grid. Making the right choices quickly is key to avoiding unnecessary points.

3. Special Effect Cards: Some cards come with unique effects that let you look at, swap, or discard cards strategically. Use these effects to gain an advantage or to disrupt other players' grids and throw off their plans.

4. End of Round and Scoring: When a player believes they have the lowest score, they say "Mental" to trigger the end of the round, preventing other players from altering their cards. At the end of the round, everyone reveals their cards and tallies their points. If a player says "Mental" and doesn’t have the lowest score, they receive a penalty.

Special Scoring and Winners

• Players receive bonuses for special grids, cards of the same color, or duplicate effect cards. If you manage to clear all cards from your grid, you’ll earn a big scoring advantage!
• After four rounds, the player with the lowest total score is crowned the champion of Mental Mess.
