Description
And they're off!
As the jockeys begin to rock their horses back and forth, and back and forth, it's only your encouragement that will allow them to overcome their embarrassment and push ahead to win!
In One Trick Pony, players will spend cards as encouragement to help the horses get ahead. Whichever horse has the most cards played at the end, wins the race and defines the rule and the suit for the trick. Players finally play a single trick to find the winner based on the suit and rule determined in the previous step!
:: Gameplay ::
Players begin with 7 cards each. The remaining cards are placed within easy reach.
A game lasts 6 turns. The first 5 turns are encouragement turns, and the last turn is the trick.
Encouragement turns have 3 steps: Encouragement, Action, and Swap.
During the encouragement step, each player plays one card face down. The cards are then shuffled and placed into stacks, where each horse has 1 stack.
During the action step, find the horse that currently has the most cards in their stack and resolve its action (blue text) if it has one.
During the swap step, each player may optionally discard 1 card from their hand and draw 1 new card.
Finally, when every player has only 2 cards left, we move on to the trick turn. The horse that has the most cards in its pile defines the winning suit for the trick and the rule (red text).
All players then play one of their remaining cards to resolve the trick and find the winner!
