Backstory

Operation Nexus is a game that sees you in command of a new operation in the distant future. You are tasked with obtaining a powerful and rare resource known as nexus that holds near infinite power. The only problem being that you aren't the only one searching for it. Face off against a friend or against the deck to see if you have what it takes to secure the most nexus. It will take planning, tactics, and luck if you are to become the most powerful commander in the universe.

Overview

Operation Nexus is a dice rolling game about fights in outer space. Use advanced technology and sabotage cards to gain the upper hand in a fight for the most powerful fuel ever concieved. Send troop cards to gather nexus and stop your enemies from getting any nexus for themselves in a war for the future of the universe.

Types of Cards

Before we learn how to battle in the stars we must first learn about the types of cards in Operation Nexus.

There are 3 types of Card in operation Nexus and all of them have a specific role in the Game. So without further ado (Is that a real word?) here they are.

Nexus Cards

Nexus Cards are the representation of Nexus in 2 player mode.

They are used for point values and once you get enough of them you win. Their point values are shown in the grey circle at their bottom center. The point value can range from 1-3.

Fighter Cards

Fighter Cards are cards that represent different soldiers. Each soldier has a name, a rank, a quote, and most importantly, 2 dice counts.

Their rank and name are at the top of the card. Their quote is in the box at the center. The 2 dice counts are the 2 numbers in the colored circles. These numbers represent how many dice you roll as the Blue and Red Player respectively. These dice rolls are to determine Power.

Battle Support Cards

Battle Support Cards are used in tandem with Fighter Cards. These cards can modify dice rolls and change the tide of battle.

They are used right before rolling the dice in 2 Player Mode and right after in Solo Mode. These modifications are written out on each Battle Support Card and often only affect one color of fighter. Sometimes these cards affect enemy fighters as well. For example, the card, "Bland Rations," shown in green below actually makes green cards weaker rather than stronger.

Playing the Game

Playing Operation Nexus is relatively simple. In both versions of the game you roll dice to find power. Power is the highest die that you rolled. This number is between 1-6 and the fighter with the highest power wins that fight.

Solo Mode

In the Solo Mode of Operation Nexus you do not need to worry about capturing Nexus Cards.Instead you need to fight as many fighters as you can. To play you first give yourself 4 Fighter cards and put the rest across from you on the table. Next, place the deck of Battle Support cards to the right of the fighter cards that you just drew. You must also give yourself the red dice and place the blue dice across from you on the table.

  1. After setting up the table draw 3 Battle Support Cards and choose 2 to keep in your hand. Place the last card back on the bottom of the Battle Support Cards.

  2. Next, flip the top card of the Fighter Cards Deck over. Choose one of your Fighter Cards to attack the FIghter Card you just flipped over.

  3. Roll the dice and find the power of each fighter. Note that as the real person you are always the Red Player.

  4. You can now choose to play a Battle Support to increase your power or decrease the enemy's power.

  5. If you won the fight discard the Fighter Card you just used and Put the card you just beat in your now open slot. If you lost discard both cards.

  6. Repeat the steps.

You win in solo mode if at the end of the game you have discarded 25+ Fighter Cards
