For the uninitiated, hanafuda (or hwatu if you're Korean) are playing cards of Japanese origin featuring unique artwork on each card in the deck. The cards are loaded with classical Eastern symbolism, mostly using images of nature, but also making references to Japanese culture and literature. They can be used to play a wide variety of games, similar to (and derived from a common ancestor with) the international standard playing card deck. The less straightforward design of the hanafuda deck, however, adds additional layers of intrigue, challenge, and beauty to games played with it.
Now, for the first time, you can any regular old dice into unique, collectible hanafuda dice! Using 48 stickers, one for each card in the hanafuda deck, a "dice deck" can be built, allowing brand new ways to play the many traditional games associated with flower cards. This set of Pixel Hanafuda Dice Stickers consists of 105 stickers, more than enough to transform two complete sets of 8 dice each, as well as instructions for stickering your dice in such a way that an incredibly wide array of yaku can be rolled. You can also ignore the layout instructions and simply layout the dice to suit your own taste or game inventions.
Or, go rogue and skip the dice. Affix Pixel Hanafuda micro-art onto the covers of your favorite notebooks, or use the stickers to mark special days on your calendar. Who doesn’t appreciate tiny stickers featuring pixelated Japanese flora and fauna?
Each sticker is UV coated with a pleasant linen texture and measures 0.5 x 0.5 in. The artwork for these dice stickers is directly adapted from my Pixel Hanafuda flower card set. Please note that this listing includes the stickers and instructions only; if you wish to purchase these with the dice to affix them to as well, please see Pixel Hanafuda Dice.
