Prophets, Priests, & Kings

In ancient Israel, there are three main types of leaders. Who will hold sway over the nation at any given time? Will it be the inspired prophets who speak truth to power and perform miracles? Will be it the priests: custodians of the sacred temple and the Law of Moses? Or, will it be the king, whose own word is law? You’ll have to decide! The fate of the nation is in your hands as you make strategic choices and negotiate between the historic individuals who hold these offices with varying degrees of success and power!

The game plays somewhat like a traditional “trick-taking” card game, but not exactly. For example, players don’t need to follow the suit of the lead player in a given round, and winning cards involves more than merely having the highest value card in the same suit. Furthermore, often there is no single highest card that wins the entire trick; rather, one player wins some of the cards in the trick while other players win other cards, though a clever player may certainly make a clean sweep and gain the whole trick! At any rate, the goal is to garner the most points and thereby to become the most powerful player.
