Description

Red Herring is a social deduction and hidden team game for 4-9 players. It is the goal of the Fisherman to find which player is secretly the Blue Tuna while avoiding those pesky Red Herrings. Accuse the other players, convince the fisherman to chose you, and lie your way to victory!

But unlike other Social deduction games, this game can be played entirely silently!

At the start of the game, one player is chosen to be the Fisherman and the other players are fishes. Through the game, the Fisherman will be given a logic puzzle to solve and find the correct fish for victory. The fish players get to play hook cards to accuse themselves or other fishes as they need to benefit their team.

The game takes place over 4 rounds, where each round reveals more information.

Round 1: The Identity - In this round, the fish players will know what kind of fish they are and likely what other players might be. Each player will have a choice of 2 fish tiles to choose from, the pass the one that isn't chosen. This gives a bit of information to all fish players as to which role each player may be.

Round 2: The Hooks – In this round, the fish players will use the hook tiles to make “statements” about the fish tiles, hook tiles, or players. These hook tiles have statements like: "This is a Red Herring" "This card is a Blue Tuna" "This hook card is a lie" "This player is confused" and more to help signal the Fisherman toward your fish and away from the others.

Round 3: The Belief – This is the round where the Fisherman will try to get more information from the fish players by asking their belief. Each fish player will be asked about a hook tile and will answer if they believe the tile or not. (Remember, any Fish player can lie as much as they want, including this round.)

Round 4: The Catch – In this final round, the Fisherman will choose a Fish player to “Catch.” The caught fish’s identity will determine who wins. If he chooses a Red Herring, all the Red Herrings win! If he chooses a Blue Tuna, he and the Blue Tuna players will win!
