You've got your first real six-string, get ready to start learning what it takes to compete with the likes of guitarists whose names are whispered in music shops all around the planet. The journey begins here as you rock-and-write your way to learning chords and a scale, enough to get you ready for the stage.
In Rock ‘n’ Write, you are an eager but inexperienced guitar player in a garage band. At first, you barely know how to hold a guitar, but as time goes on you learn notes, play chords, use your effect pedal, and start playing to huge crowds! The only question left: do you have what it takes to win the Freemont Battle of the Bands?
In Rock n Write, players will be using 3 six-sided dice during the Rehearsal phase to fill in spaces on chords and their scale to develop their Star-power. Each completed chord grants either a permanent bonus to their Star-power or a once time benefit that can be used during the Rehearsal phase or the Showtime phase. Players will also have access to their effects pedal for crafting just the right sound for their playing. Dice values can be placed in this area to be used toward a chord or scale in a later Rehearsal round or in the Showtime round to ignore the value of a card for themselves, which can keep their set going.
The Showtime phase is played with a standard deck of cards. Cards are revealed one at a time with players determining if they still have enough Star-power to exceed the growing crowd's value or if they will end their set and score some sweet victory points.
The highest-scoring guitar slinger is the winner!

Players will play simultaneously in this 1-100 player game. They will need 6 dice in 2 different colors, 3 of each color. The dice are rolled and then divided into their color sets. Players choose one of the color sets to fill in spaces on their player sheet in the chords or on the scale.
In the second phase, players take to the stage with their new found star-power in the form of completed chords and scales. In the Showtime phase, players will play simultaneously with a press-your-luck mechanism of flipping cards from a deck, the cards represent audience members. Players must exceed the total value of the Audience card or use their effects pedal to ignore some of the cards. Players will decide when their show ends, but if they push their luck too far they can end up losing all of their audience and scoring nothing for the round!
Over 10 rounds of Rehearsal and Showtime the players will earn a total score for Audience as well as score points for their completed chords and scale.
