Ruby - and other Gems

“Ruby and other Gems” is a collection of four card games. All four games use a special deck of 48 cards. On some of the cards you find gems: rubies, emeralds, sapphires and diamonds. The four card games are named after those gems. They are all trick taking games with a little twist.

Diamond is an easy card game. With each trick you can win a card that was previously drawn from the stock. You try to win and keep valuable cards in your hand until the stock runs out and the cards in your hand are scored.

Sapphire is also an easy card game where a trick can contain a different number of cards. A trick is “finished” when 7 or more gems are in the trick. A trick contains a minimum of two cards, but sometimes more than the number of players. It is played with fixed partnership.

Emerald is a card game that starts with an easy bidding phase. If you win the bidding you can declare trump. But you have to give away one of your trumps and the other players can improve their hand from the kitty.

Ruby is a card game for four players that is usually played with partners. The advanced bidding phase makes it special. With your bid you offer valuable cards from your hand to win cards from the open kitty. If you win the bidding, you become the game master who gets the right to declare the trump suit. In the second bidding phase the other players are bidding to become partner of the game master by offering bonus points to their opponents.
The bidding often is hard fought and very tense!
