From the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden into the Arabian Sea, small groups of Somali nationals are challenging international shipping traffic. While many call them pirates others see them as badaadinta badah: saviors of the sea. In either case, being financially viable is crucial to survival. In the Saviors of the Sea game you and others play as leaders of different Somali factions fighting to capture and ransom vessels that enter your valuable ocean territory.
SOS is a card-driven game where players use cards to aid their hijacking attempts or to impair other players in their attempts. Players use skiffs to attack vessels such as oil tankers, cargo ships, and yachts that fly the flags of other nations or unions. Every ship and nationality has its own value for ransom and help comes from many quarters including foreign intelligence groups. But be warned, foreign powers include things such as Special Forces units and naval operations.
In the end, the one with the most money in this game wins. To see some of the game component artwork you can check out our video.
