Scarborough Tower is under construction and five builders are trying to earn Prestige in the process. You are a Family of Masons, free to work with any of the five builders and earn a little Prestige of your own.
In Scarborough Tower, players will help the five builders construct the tower. But which builders you help and when you help them will affect your own rise to power. Perhaps, one day, you may even rise to be a builder yourself.
Scarborough Tower is a competative game where you will be helping to build the Tower. There are five builders that you can work for. The more you do for a particular builder, the more influence you have with them. That will help you to score more points.
Scarborough Tower is a game with a surprising amount of subtle strategy. Small decisions can have more effect than they seem at first. And that might just be enough to decide who wins the game.
Your Mason moves clockwise around the build site. You can move either 1, 2 or 3 spots.
You move the topmost Tower Piece next to your Mason to a tower (a square of the grid in the middle of the board). It has to go to the same row/column your Mason is in. You can play on top of other Tower Pieces as long the existing Tower Piece is not completed (A Mason's Stone is on top).
The color of the Tower Piece you just moved corresponds to one of the eight Builders. They each have a tent on the board with a flag of a matching color. You will now take an Influence Action with that Builder. There are 3 types:
You do this when you don't have any influence over the builder yet. Place one of your Mason Stones on the lowest spot... if there's anyone else's Stone there, they move up.
You do this when you already have influence over a builder. Move your Stone up one spot. If there's another Stone there already, switch places with them.
Place your Stone on top of the Towere Piece you just placed. That Tower is now completed and it is worth points.
And the end of the game there is a final scoring from all of the builders. It's based on how may of that builder's Tower Pieces are on top of the towers and each player's influence.
You only have 8 Stones and each Builder can only be interacted with 8 times, so you need to make your move wisely. Decide when it's best to battle the other Masons for Influence and when it's better to avoid conflict to win the game.
