What happens when video game playing, comic reading, cartoon watching brothers like Alex and I (Tony) get bored?
We invent.
In this case we were actually trying to play with our old Pokemon cards we found in an old Pokemon binder in the basement. When we struggled to understand the complexities of the game (which is why we only really collected them instead of played with them). We decided to make our own card game.
The scoring had to be easy, we didn't want a calculator to figure out how many health points we had left, and the attacks had to be fun. We introduced a simple coin flip to shake up the game by adding chance to the attack your character would deal.
For the characters, we had loads of characters and universes we created on one of our "sit down with no electronics and just write/draw" days.
We tested it out with our family, then with our friends, and noticed everyone was having just as much fun - especially when alliances would naturally form and break throughout the course of the game.
After some beta-testing we finally got it down and created a free app that would allow you to not only track the health of up to six characters per app, but also read character bios and highlight the characters you have.
We even found out that Shranks is an awesome drinking game to play with your buddies as well!
