Skarlybones

As a member of a pirate crew, ye have landed on a deserted island to have a wake for a recently departed comrade. To celebrate the life of the murdered crewmate, the cap'n has announced a prize bag for the crew to win by playing a favorite game -- skarlybones!

Bones of dead mutineers are tied to five-sided wooden frames, called skarlies, and rolled down a hill on the island. Each of the crew places bets on what positions these skarlybones end up in at the bottom.

Be warned, the crew is a nasty bunch, so all kinds of mischief is afoot. Poison, cursed totems, and gunfire are common. The player who earns the most from their bets is declared the winner...if they survive!

How to play like a pirate

• Shuffle the deck of 52 cards.
• Choose a dealer.
• Each player is dealt a hand of five cards.
• Starting with the dealer, each player selects two cards of any combination of Wager and Action cards to place face-down in front of them. This is their Bet.
• When all players have placed a Bet, they are all turned over.
• Starting with the dealer, Action cards that happen before the roll take place.
• The dealer rolls the five skarlybones and all players compare the results to their Wager cards. Any Wager card with both positions found in the roll gets added to that player's Haul, earning them the number of doubloons in the upper left corner.
• Action cards that happen after the roll take place.
• Play passes to the left, and continues until one player cannot be dealt a full hand of cards, ending the game.
• The player with the highest total value of Wager and Action cards in their Haul wins the game!
