An open-world, pick-up-and-play, card-based RPG where creativity earns you kills.
Lay 18 tarot-sized location cards, each with distinct rules, in any pattern you like. Players can destroy locations to alter the landscape and the rules.
Pick from 10 characters. If you get wounded, attach a wound clip to your card. If you die, flip your card and become a Shade, a vengeful spirit bestowing blessings on their allies and curses on their enemies while they try to revive.
Loot every turn by drawing from a deck packed with 495 weapons, supplies, companions, and inhabitants from the lowly laxative, to the overpowered Mjölnir. Your memory is the only limit to what you can carry in your inventory.
In Slaughter, you can do whatever you want. Want to try to steal from another player? Persuade an inhabitant? Sneak past a hostile? Just describe what you want to do and the GM will tell you what you have to roll on a D10 to succeed.
Brace yourself for 144 unique Hostiles, Bandits, Mutants, Beasts, Monsters, Machines and Mythics—everything from a decapitated Zombie head chomping at your ankles, to a rampaging T-Rex. Think fast and come up with creative ways to use whatever gear you have to survive the madness.
Combat is all about creatively. The attacker describes their approach, using items, abilities, and the environment. The defender counters with their own narrative. The GM sets modifiers based on how convincing each player was. Then they roll off to see who wins.
Alive or as a vengeful Shade, every player has the potential to influence every moment of the game with the innovative Blessings and Curses mechanic. Each round, players get one Blessing Token and one Curse Token. Anytime another player rolls, throw down a blessing to increase their roll by one, or a curse to reduce it by one.
The final showdown kicks off when one of six unique End Game scenarios is drawn. Maybe one player will get infected with a zombie virus? Or maybe you'll all have to work together to fight through monsters and get to an Escape Pod? Each scenario sets up a high-stakes finale packed with dramatic twists and epic showdowns.
