Do you remember what it was like on Halloween as a kid?

Well, even if you don't this game is my way of recapturing that magical night of conspiring with the other kids in your neighborhood, avoiding the neighborhood bully, and having a competition to see who can get the most candy.

In case you were wondering... I almost always won.

Smell My Feet is a nostalgic game of tricks and treats using simple planning and worker placement mechanics to scope out houses, chase off the bully, and increase your chances of getting more candy. Each round of the game represents 30 minutes of time on Halloween night, and pulling from my childhood memories of going trick-or-treating... I can tell you a LOT can happen in 30 minutes... houses can run out of candy, or be egged. Toilet paper may come out and keep houses busy cleaning up, and someone always had firecrackers tucked away somewhere to scare people. After 8 rounds (representing 4 hours of trick or treating) the night is over, and we all go home and dump out our bags and count/compare our candies.

Whoever gets the most candy is the winner... but let's face it. We got a bunch of free candy -- everyone was a winner.

But since this is a game, and there must be a clear-cut winner... whoever gets the most wins!

Game highlights:

Each house has a basic candy amount at the beginning of the game. As you scope them out and spend your recon points, you can reveal to everyone what types of costumes they like, and how much candy they are giving away. Visiting a house with a matching costume type will net you bonus candy. Not wearing the right costume? Not a problem! You can always run home and change... but you may not find the right kind of costume.

You can also run home to rummage for supplies like eggs, toilet paper, or firecrackers. Despite the fact that the bully loves to terrorize you, sometimes joining forces with him can swing the odds in your favor. Use these items to assist him, and he will move to another location. But, be careful... at the end of each round, players have to pay the bully candy if they are in the same area of the neighborhood as him.
