You, brave astronaut, have been selected from the best of the best to be part of the crew of the Stardust, a manned voyage for 2-4 crew to- what's that, the airlock's broken? I can't fix that, I've got to run these diagnostics and then I'm due a sleep, and- okay. I can stop by the workshop and print something, but...
You and your friends will have to work together to complete objectives, repair damage and generally try not to die in space. Taking on the role of one of four characters - pilot Concorde, captain and astronomer Rosetta, biologist Zambuko, or engineer Aurora - you'll have to complete the various objectives issued by mission control as they come in using your limited energy reserves. All the while, your ship is picking up damage from wear and tear and debris, so you'll need to keep it in working order - or else it'll prevent you from achieving your objectives, or worse, compromise your survival!
Stardust can be played in a tidy 30 minutes and comes in a slender, travel-friendly box, and features a sleek throwback art style that pines for translucent blue plastic, silver blobby technology, the cautious mix of optimism and trepidation in the face of the new milennium, and the NASA worm. With a randomised setup, varied roles, and a granular difficulty setting that challenges you to survive longer and longer journeys, there's plenty to come back to on repeated plays.
