This listing is for the beta edition of Starship Showdown by MM Tabletop LLC. It's been playtested A LOT but after a local convention in October 2019 it has been revamped to add more strategic layers while preserving the core gameplay. We're ready to expand to new testers! You can either buy this edition (priced at cost with the minimum components), play it on Tabletop Simulator, or download the print and play PDFs here. Enjoy testing and please send feedback to contact@mmtabletop.com!
As a starship captain, you’ve made a lot of enemies in the depths of space. Out here, ships are in a constant state of repair, and the captain that can cobble together the best hunk of junk usually wins. Limping back to the scrapyard from your most recent “trade negotiation”, you’ll have to hire crew, install engines and weapons systems, and maybe even adapt some alien technology to your battered vessel and fast! You’re not the only captain at this particular scrapyard...
Starship Showdown is a competitive card game in which you secretly draft cards to create your ship (in the style of Sushi Go!). Then, once the scrap has run out, all ships are revealed and begin to duke it out in a unique hybrid of Munchkin and King of Tokyo.
Will you build a speedy bare bones rocket that's impossible to hit, or maybe a battleship bristling with lasers? Maybe you'll focus on hiring a crew of engineers that can fix anything, or a battalion of soldiers that take no prisoners once they teleport on board? Perhaps instead you'll rely on alien technology or defensive countermeasures to outlast your opponents. The choice is yours, but only if you can get your hands on the right parts!
