The Storyteller Decks are a series of physical cards to create flexible & modular creative writing prompts. Shuffle the cards, draw some at random, and start writing or telling your story!

The Storyteller Decks

There are four Storyteller Decks and this is Deck #3: Conflicts, Goals & Motivations. Each deck gives you a fresh take on writing and storytelling prompts, and with this deck you can generate randomized prompts to apply to your characters or to come up with new stories and scenes.

The cards in this deck introduce three elements that are crucial to storytelling: problems/obstacles to overcome, and goals that characters might have with motivations for why they have those goals.

• Deck #2: Genres, Themes & Objects for setting the foundation of a story.
• Deck #3: Conflicts, Goals & Motivations to flesh out your characters.
• Deck #4: Characters, Objects & Situations for shortstories and plot.

What's in the Box?

This deck contains 90 cards:

• 30 written conflicts, like "Someone important has gone missing"
• 30 written goals, like "Urgently get to a meeting"
• 30 written motivations, like "It can advance their career"

How to Use This Deck

The cards can be used any way you like for inspiration and a range of creative storytelling exercises. They come with instructions printed on the box for a suggested exercise:

1. Shuffle the goals, motivations and conflicts into three separate decks.
2. Draw a card from each deck and put them in this sentence: "Their goal is to [GOAL CARD] because [MOTIVATION CARD] but [CONFLICT CARD]."
3. Start writing or telling your story, or apply the prompt to a character profile you're working on!

Example: Their goal is to get married because they need money but there's a guard by the entrance.**

With one goal, one motivation and one conflict there are 27.000 possible combinations for endless stories!
