The game parts are cut from two pieces of chipboard. To ensure parts are not lost, there are three or more breaks in the cut lines per part so that they will remain tied to the chipboard. Before the first use of the game, these parts will need to be punched out from the chipboard.
Laser cutting leaves a small amount of soot on the edges of the parts. This can be wiped off.
The tile rack consists of a shelf, a back, and 10 dividers. To assemble, place the shelf on a table color-side-up. Take a divider oriented feet down. Lift the shelf and slide its notch into the nearly horizontal notch of the divider. Repeat for the remaining dividers. Take the back oriented color-side-up and slide its notches into the nearly vertical notches of the dividers. For an illustration, see the assembly instructions on the bottom of the shelf.
Sudoku is brilliantly simple. Each puzzle consists of a 9-by-9 grid divided into 9 3-by-3 sub-grids. Some of the cells of the grid contain a counting number from 1 to 9. Your goal is to fill each remaining cell of the grid with a counting number from 1 to 9 such that each number appears only once in each row of the grid, only once in each column of the grid, and only once in each sub-grid.
Puzzles differ by which of the cells of the grid are populated with which numbers. Most puzzle books assign a difficulty rating to the puzzle based on the types of logical deductions required to complete the puzzle. If your sudoku puzzle book includes a difficulty rating, feel free to set up your game board to show the appropriate difficulty indicator. The game board has two sides: ★☆☆☆☆ for easy puzzles (and medium puzzles with the difficulty indicator tile); and ★★★☆☆ for medium puzzles (and hard puzzles with the difficulty indicator tile).
To use these sudoku tiles with your sudoku puzzle book, select a puzzle from your book, copy the puzzle by placing the corresponding tiles on the board, and solve using the remaining tiles.
With sudoku tiles there is no erasing or scratching out mistakes. If you make a mistake, simply remove the offending tile(s). So you don't accidentally remove one of the fixed numbers, each number tile has two sides: a boxed side to denote a fixed number and an unboxed side to denote a guess.
