The inspiration for Super Sandwich Stacker came from creators' time working as an elder care professional, and from volunteer work at a rehabilitation hospital for people recovering from surgery. So as they were looking to design their first card game, they had the idea of designing a game that was simple and clear enough that she and the other caretakers could play it with the various patients she worked with, while not sacrificing the fun for themselves. With this in mind, the game was carefully crafted to be as intuitive and clear in as many ways as possible. Such as not needing text on the cards, which clients with poor vision might not be able to read, or having clear images with one color per card for severe nearsightedness, and having clear shape language for those who might be color blind. Refining the game more and more to try and account for as many limitations as possible that the patients might have. And after rigorous play testing with adults, teens, and children outside of a medical setting, the game was further refined, until she was certain the game made good on its promise of having a very low barrier of entry, while not sacrificing the fun!
