Welcome
You are at the threshold of an unforgettable adventure.
It'll start with a fun little road trip, but soon things will go horribly wrong.
You'll get lost, completely lost, lost in the frickin' desert, and your fun little road trip will turn into a desperate struggle to survive.
The wilderness will beat down on you with the uncaring force of dry winds and the searing sun and dust storms that scrape at your car.
Deadly hazards will lurk all around you, from highway robbers to your car bursting into flames.
But if you can survive, if you can push your car to its limit and find just enough to scrape by, you'll see some incredible sights. You'll travel to the top of Lighting Mountain and see the desert below illuminated with a flash of light. You'll journey across the salt flats and stay at the Black Moon Motel. You'll get mixed up with the wrong people at Greenjack's Bar and snag a spare tire at an abandoned gas station.
So what are you waiting for? In just minutes you can print out your very own free copy of the starting packet, flip through the rulebook and get going on your very first run!
The desert is waiting.
The Absolute Worst Road Trip is a card game for 1 player or a team of players.
At the start of the each play session (or "run") you'll choose which challenge and vehicle you'll use. Then you can adjust what cards are in the decks a little.
During the run, you'll travel from stop to stop until you either complete the goal on your challenge or you die.
Between stops, you'll encounter events, which can do all sorts of things (usually bad things).
One of your encounters will be a powerful danger event. Over the course of the run, the danger events you face get added into the deck, increasing the difficulty of the game.
You'll also deal with a wide variety of problems, and pick up useful items along your run.
There are many important choices to make throughout the run. You'll choose which stops you visit and the order you visit them, which items to take (and how to use them), and which problems to suffer. Making wise choices is the difference between life and death out here.
You start with only the Starting Packet, but as you play, you'll get to open packets that contain new cards to discover and new challenges to overcome. There are 32 packets in total and over 280 unique cards.
This page has the free packets for the game. The remaining 23 packets are available for a one-time payment of $20 here.
If you don't want to print out and cut up the cards yourself, check out The Absolute Worst Road Trip (printed out for you). That box has all 282 cards from all the packets already printed out for you, in full color. It also includes the 23 non-free packets for no extra charge as a bonus download once you buy it.
If you buy the packets on patreon, they come with an extra packet that's not available here that has 9 cards from other packets with alternate art.
This game also requires a six-sided die, some tokens, poker-size playing cards, card sleeves, and a pen or pencil, none of which are included in this product. Fortunately, this website sells an impressive selection of dice and tokens. Consider buying:
• 25 tokens (I suggest this one: Gem, Clear or this one: Disc, 15mm x 4mm, Black )
• A 100-pack of poker-size card sleeves
• 2 decks of poker-size playing cards with backs you like or, for something much cheaper, 100 blank poker-size cards
The action shots show card backs by the United States Playing Card Company, which has not endorsed this product and is frankly completely unaware of its existence.
Cat not included.

Until next time, keep your gas full, pack plenty of water, and whatever you do don't go to Death Canyon!
