The Chalice Pack is a full 78-card deck of tarot cards and as a project was first conceived in the late eighties. Many of the cards have frequently been reworked since then and in 2006, a limited edition of the major arcana was published by Adam Mc Clean. Three of the card designs will also be featured in the first volume of the forthcoming Taschen Encyclopaedia of Esoterica. Each card was hand-drawn and individually designed using pen, ink and colour pencils on cards, with a vibrant palette of rich colours ranging from green, blue, purple, red and white. The colour and patterns fit the symbolism of each card. For example, reds and oranges correspond to the fiery Wands, whilst blues and pale yellows are more symbolic of Swords and Air. Tear shapes and waves correspond to Water and Cups, whilst Brick patterns go with Earthy Coins, or Disks. However, this deck is not purely abstract, but largely figurative. The traditional interpretations for each card are loosely followed, but interpreted according to the ideas and research followed by the artist. Until recently, it was not possible to publish here the full sethis has changed, and for those who want more than the booklet, here is the full original book!
