The Daily Struggle is a two-player area control game. Players strategically recruit cells to their side and extract the cells' energy to further expand their territory.
But there's a catch! If both sides use up the body's energy completely, the body dies and both sides will lose!
With only three rules, red and blue markers, 24 cubes and some dice, The Daily Struggle is quick to learn, set up and play!
Color. Initially, all cells are neutral - however, both the Virus and the Immune System will "claim" cells by coloring them in with their respective color.
Icon. Each cell's icon indicates the maximum energy it will randomly generate when claimed, via the rolling of a specific die:
Cubes. Wooden cubes represent a claimed cell's energy. Expend energy to claim adjacent neutral cells, or transfer energy to distant cells. Dots. The number of dots inside a neutral cell's wall is the cell's strength - you must expend this amount of energy from an adjacent cell in order to claim it.
Turns are consecutive. On their turn, a player must either Claim an adjacent neutral cell or Transfer energy to another cell.
Return to the bag the amount of energy cubes that are equal to the strength ("number of dots") of the adjacent neutral cell. Then roll the appropriate die to extract energy from the newly-claimed cell!
You can transfer energy between your claimed cells, as longs a a contiguous path of your claimed cells is between them.
If all 24 energy cubes are ever on the board, then the body's energy has been depleted and both sides immediately lose!
Otherwise, the game ends when neither side are able to claim any more neutral cells. The side with the most claimed cells is the winner!
