Description

This deck was drawn many years ago, around 1995. It is based on the same underlying structure as The Numerical Tarot seen elsewhere on this site. At the time this deck was drawn I had not yet invented character titles for both the "influencer" or "god" cards versus the "influenced" or "mortal" characters for each Major Card (something that has since become a mandatory feature of my decks). So some of the Major Cards show a god, and others show a mortal, and some show both god and mortal interacting. But rather than edit the titles established in The Numerical Tarot, I just put both character titles on each card, no matter who was in the picture. You can use your imagination to imagine the missing character. Most of the images fit the titles pretty well along with the keywords established by The Numerical Tarot. As with other decks I have posted here, the purpose is to get this unpublished artwork out there where people can use it.

This deck is a little different than some of my others and a bit different than a lot of other tarot decks out there. It has a lot of nudity and gruesome, gory images. In all my decks balance, symmetry, contrast and consistency reign supreme. In following that objective, this deck illustrates dark, scary, gruesome and horrifying aspects of life and death, as well as all the light, happy and pretty aspects of life and death… from a life-biased perspective. So... WARNING, WARNING it is NOT a Fluffy Bunny deck that attempts to mitigate the severity of all images. Life and death have their ugly side, and so does this deck. Because... the purpose of the deck is to describe as full and complete a spectrum of human experience as possible, not to be a psychic sanctuary of positive affirmations.

So... if this deck seems too dark, check again… you will see that for every dark and scary image there is a light and happy one to balance it out in perfect symmetry. If you think the deck is too dark, that is probably your unbalanced preferences and unbalanced perspective at work. If you can't take the bad with the good, do not explore this deck! I am putting it out there as an alternative to the abundance of tarot decks that do not explore the ugly sides of life and death as much. Some people, I'm sure will appreciate that.
