The Royal Rainbow Road

One year for Christmas my three year old niece got a set of Go Fish Princess playing cards. She was really excited to play them so I happily obliged. We pulled them out, shuffled them up and I went over the rules with her. She was confused from the start. Finding the same number and getting 4 of them, asking for what you need, all of the rules seemed way too complex for her age. She was very disappointed. I decided then I need to create a new card game, one that she could understand and play, but will also be fun for all ages. I designed a simple color and shape matching game that had ease enough for even three year olds but fun for even adults to play. No words, no numbers, just shapes and colors. It is fun and easy to play. I called it The Royal Rainbow Road.

In the beginning the King had decided it is time to build the Rainbow Road, a magical road where one can travel the entire kingdom. So he gathered his greatest engineers, you and your friends, to build the road using the cards in this game. Card by card, brick by brick you build the road until you run out of materials and cards to build the road.

Rainbow Road is an easy to play, quick game for 2 to 4 players where you match colors and shapes in hopes to be the first player to get rid of your hand. You do this by building the Rainbow Road one card, or one brick, at a time. The first person to use up all the materials the king has given you wins the game!

What's wonderful about The Royal Rainbow Road is that it's fun for all ages. Because it works with colors and shapes instead of numbers or words it becomes an intuitive experience that even a young child can pick up and play. A great game for children just learning how board and card games work and a fun way to introduce them to the bigger world of games. Also it has elements of strategy in it that can appeal to older gamers as well. As you master the simple mechanics new rules can be added to make the game more challenging for greater fun!
