Boxing: The time-honored contest of two people going fist-to-fist to see which one is the better fighter. To those who don't follow it, it's a brutal contest of strength; but to its fans, Boxing is a cross between chess, dance, mind games, and maybe a little punching. They call it The Sweet Science.
The Sweet Science is a card game for two players. Both players begin with the same set of seven cards and try to guess what their opponent's fighting style will be like. Will they throw an uppercut? Will they focus on blocking your attack? What should you do in response? Every card can counter three other cards -- but that means there's three cards that can counter yours. Every decision counts.
Every round, the boxer with the worst performance has to get rid of a card, limiting their options for the future and giving a savvy opponent an opening to exploit -- if they can deduce which card is no longer in their opponent's arsenal.
Either win three card clashes in a row to knock out your opponent, or wear him down until he can no longer fight; whatever strategy you use, they key to The Sweet Science isn't how hard you can throw a punch -- it's how well you know your opponent!
"Boxing is like chess. You encourage your opponent to make mistakes so you can capitalize on it. People think you get in the ring and see the red mist, but it's not about aggression. Avoiding getting knocked out is tactical." --Nicola Adams
