Totem Traitors is a strategical TCG where you aim to assemble and activate your entire totem.
Totem Traitors is a home made TCG made for people who love stratigizing and playing with more than just 1 friend. In Totem Traitors you aim to activate your totems by getting K.O.'s with your cute but fierce creatures. You can use various items to assist you in this quest but pay attention to the time or your silly little creatures might fall asleep and your opponents nocturnal beasts might wake up.
To start the game decide who goes first, then have all players arrange their 4 totems in any order they would like. A die is used to keep track of what time of day it is. The game always starts on turn 1 of day. All players draw 4 cards from their deck. This is your starting hand. A new card will be drawn at the start of every turn except your first. Just like how drawing a card is the start of your turn, turnning the die to the next number signifies the end of your turn. Then, the next player will start their turn. once the die turns from 6 to 1 the time changes to night. Daytime creatures will fall asleep and night-time creatures will wake up. This is shown by tilting the card that falls asleep by 90 degrees and then back upright when it wakes up.
Creatures are your main allies in combat. They help you activate and assemble your totems. Creatures have the time of day they are active, health, and attack desplayed at the bottom of their card in that order. A creatures level is shown at the top right of their card. The element of a creature is desplayed by the colored border around the card. Level 1 creatures can be played from your hand into an open creature spot on your field. You have 3 open creature spots. The left, middle, and right. Level 2 or higher creatures must be played on the level below them that share the same name as that creature. Star level creatures have special requirments to play them that will be stated on their card. Leveling up a creature removes any damage or buffs the level below it had. If the effect is still active such as a weather or tool, then it is reapplied. You can play as many Level 1 creatures as you would like per turn but keep in mind you only have 3 creature spots. You can only level up 1 creature per turn. Creatures can not attack or level up on their first turn. Since Leveled up creatures are still the same creature just leveled up they can attack on their first turn. You may only attack once per turn, even if you have more than one creature active. Creatures that are asleep can not attack, but may still be attacked. A creature is K.O.'ed when its health reaches 0. When a creature is K.O'ed, it is sent to the discard pile along with any tools attatched to it.
To win Totem Traitors you must assemble your whole totem. To assemble your totem you must get a K.O. with a creature of the corresponding element. The bottom totem must be completed before any others. Once the totem is activated it is turned onto its side and becomes your active totem. Your active totem is the totem that is on the top of your assembled totems. The totem ability may then be used. once you assemble all 4 parts of your totem pole, you have one the game.
