Description
An evil is spreading across the lands. A neighboring kingdom has been attacked. You gather your army and ride to aid your ally. The war that follows lasts many years. In your absence, your greedy and power hungry brother has taken over your kingom - convincing the people that you were killed in the war. Word of your brother’s deception reaches you. You gather your best heroes to accompany you on your journey home. But it won’t be an easy task. You must first travel through swamps, forests, and lava fields while battling monsters, demons, and dragons. If you make it home, only then can you reclaim your kingdom and proclaim to be Triumphant.
Includes 144 poker cards: 12 Hero Cards, 34 Creature Cards, 18 Journey Cards, and 80 Action Cards. All the cards are designed with beautiful, fantasy illustrations that bring the game to life. The game also comes with a Score Pad (to help keep track of your character’s Health Points and Gold) and a professionally designed box to store it all in.
SET UP: First, you need to choose a side. Play as either the Heroes or the Creatures. The person (or team) playing as the Creatures picks 7 Journey Cards. The Journey Cards are laid face-down on the table and arranged to form a path. The “Triumphant” Card is laid face-up at the end of the path. If the Heroes reach this card, they win the game.
Next, the person (or team) playing as the Heroes picks 4 Hero Cards and lays them face-up on the table.
GAME PLAY: The person (or team) playing as the Heroes turns over the first Journey Card. If the Journey Card has a Creature icon with a number, then the Heroes must battle that many Creatures. The person (or team) playing as the Creatures picks that many cards from the Creature Card deck and places them face-up on the table.
All players draw 5 Action Cards. The Heroes pick from the Hero Action Card deck. The Creatures pick from the Creature Action Card deck.
The player that goes first, lays down an Attack Card. The player under attack must lay a Defense Card of equal or greater value to successfully block the attack. If the Defense Card is lower in value, the difference is the amount of damage inflicted. For example, if a player plays an Attack Card of 7 and the player under attack plays a Defense Card of 5, the player under attack takes 2 damage.
Use the Score Pad to mark the damage and keep track of your party’s Health Points.
HOW TO WIN: Play continues in this manner, switching between attacker and defender, until one team is defeated. If the Heroes are defeated, the game is over. If the Creatures are defeated, the Heroes move on to the next Journey Card, flipping it over and following the instructions on the card. If the Heroes can reach the Triumphant Card at the end, then they win the game. But, if the Heroes are defeated before they reach the end, then the Creatures win the game.
