Veebar is a quick to learn, family-friendly card game for two players. Whether you’re looking for the perfect gift to give a child in your life, trying to find something new to play with someone who doesn’t have much experience with complex games, or are an experienced card slinger just looking for something fast and light to enjoy between more intense tabletop sessions, Veebar is the game for you!
Far from yet another trivia or matching game, Veebar invites a taste of the strategy normally only found in full trading card games without the hassle of deckbuilding and at a fraction of the price!
Here’s how it works: Each turn, players compete to earn points by having the number values on their cards add up to a higher total than their opponent’s cards on the same color side. Some cards have higher numbers when played on a specific side, while others have powerful special effects like stealing one of your opponent’s cards or discarding all other cards in play of the same color!
In this above example, the player on the right went first. To score three points by taking both sides on their first turn, the player on the left played a gold 5 card, then used an effect card to steal the purple 5.
The first player to score twenty points wins. Games can be finished in under ten minutes once everyone is familiar with the rules and card effects, though they often take a bit longer when players plan their plays carefully.
Everyone can appreciate the liquid-pour-painted background art on each card, and with a good amount of luck involved as well as skill, everyone has a chance to win, too! Honestly, getting to see the smiling face of my cousin’s daughter after she literally beat me at my own game on her first try brought a huge smile to my face.
(The game rules are printed on the interior of the unfolding hook box.)
