Build a community garden and compete to grow the most vegetables.
The year is 1942 and everything’s being rationed for the war effort. It’s time to pitch in and do your part. Victory Garden is a tile laying game for two to four players in which everyone competes to grow the longest row of vegetables in the garden.
Shuffle the Seed Packets and deal one to each player. Then shuffle the Garden deck and deal out all tiles evenly. Players should look at all tiles they’re dealt. The objective of the game is to form the longest line of Vegetables matching your Seed Packet.
Starting with the first player and going clockwise, each player lays down a Garden tile on their turn. Tiles may be placed in any orientation and must either be adjacent to or overlap a card already in play (except on the first tile play). Tiles can be offset and can overlap up to three vegetables. Your garden must never exceed 8x8 Vegetables in size.
Once all Garden tiles are played or there are no more valid moves, find the longest line of Vegetables. Lines can turn at 90º angles but cannot go diagonally. Each Vegetable may only be counted once in each line.
The player whose Seed Packet matches the longest line of Vegetables receives 1 Victory cube.
If playing with less than 4 players and the longest line of Vegetables does not belong to any player, use the next longest line, etc. until at least one player scores a Victory cube.
If multiple lines tie for “longest line” then all players with Seed Packets matching those Vegetables score a Victory cube.
The first player to score three Victory cubes is the winner.
