Villages of Midgard addresses the need to mitigate the randomness of dice in several ways:
- Dice rerolls are connected to village upgrades and end of game points. You can always use them, but timing is critical.
- Starting engines don't need big numbers, so its not punishing at the begining.
- Players can spend favor to manipulate dice.
- Sandbox engine building can be tailored to mitigate poor dice rolls or maximize risk/reward. Or more likely, combine the two.

- This game contains a premium upgrade called UV Coating that makes the printed components more durable.
- This game contains laser cut components. Laser cut items will have a slight amount of soot around the edges, which can easily be wiped off; and will have a campfire smell for about a week after you open them.
