A game for 2-7 players. (+1 player per expansion pack)
Prep: There are 3 pieces of a wand; Point, Center and Base. Make a wand card pile for each, placing them face down and a pile for the spell cards, face down. Each player takes turns picking up a wand card from each wand card pile until their wand is built, placed face up in front of them. Wands can be made up of any point, center and base, regardless of color; mixing or matching the type of wand. Then deal 3 spells to each player.
Playing: From then on, players play in a circle taking turns clockwise. A turn consists of:
(a) choosing one card from either of the 3 wand piles (if a wand card is not used it is discarded to the bottom of that wand pile) or choosing a card from the spells pile (can be played or held onto for later).
(b) Then placing ONE spell card (if desired and able) on it’s side face up next to your wand (meaning it is not active yet) and/or rearranging wand cards if a wand card was chosen (spell cards can only be played once you have all 3 pieces of a complete wand and one piece is the same color as the spell card).
(c) And finally, you can roll a die ONCE and if you have spells in play that meet the criteria of the roll, all eligible spells are activated, available to be used from then on (how many and on who is based on the center of your wand). Then you can attack if able.
Spells: Your spell cards have to be the same color as at least part of your wand or it cannot be played and if any spells are in play when that color of your wand is discarded, they must be discarded too. *Spell cards are not discarded when a whole wand is removed from play, only the colors not represented once the wand is rebuilt. There’s also a spell number on each card(Examples: 4+, 7-, even, odd, 10) which is the requirement to activate the spell. The player rolls one D12 die at the end of his/her turn and if the spell number requirement for any inactive spell is met, they are placed upright and activated to be used each turn.
'+' is the number shown or more than '-' is the number shown or less than 'Even' is a 50/50 chance for even number 'Odd' is a 50/50 chance for odd number A number by itself means that number must be rolled for that spell to be used
The Toad: Among the spell cards are 6 Toads. If you draw a Toad card, you wait until someone else rolls the number on that card to become the Toad. At that point, you hand him/her the card and from then on, that player can only roll a die on their turn. There can only be 1 Toad at a time so other Toad cards drawn are just added together for the Toad player and act as a single card with other Toad numbers. When another player rolls a Toad number they become the Toad. Can Toads do magic? YES! Also, Toads can’t talk, only ribbit!
Trading: On your turn, you can offer to trade a spell card from you and another player’s hands and then continue your turn.
Discarding: Discarded cards are placed at the bottom of the pile for that card type.
Winning: Having a complete wand and activating your 5th attack spell wins the game (all 8 cards in play at once) unless you have all 3 pieces of the same wand type (ie. 3 Basic, 3 Chance, etc.), then only 4 attack spells need to be activated to win.
