It's the year 2025. An unforeseen blizzard has struck the planet, quickly erasing most of life on Earth. The hardier people of the North survived, climbing the mountains where few animals and trees could survive. They made small caves their refuge, and now their only chance at survival is to rediscover old skills and tools.
Warmth of Fire asks the player to lead a small group of survivors, initially formed by only 2 people, in their struggle against the deadly cold. During the course of the game, the player can assign their survivors to various actions, like hunting, crafting tools, discovering adaptations, and more. The game uses a "long actions" system, where some of the more intensive tasks - like hunting - will resolve at the start of the next gameplay phase during the round. This will force the player to carefully plan all actions and resource expenditure.
The player must always tend to their survivor's needs like hunger and health. If one of the survivors dies, the game ends.
Ultimately, the objective of the game is to survive for at least 10 days, while gameplay variants may introduce additional rules or win conditions.
