Human space flight has progressed by leaps and bounds over the last 50 years. Rockets are a thing of the past. We have developed warped drive, and all ship’s controls are now handled by simply aligning the energy within the drive. Travel around the galaxy and beyond is now possible and the human race has gone on to explore all habitable planets within reach.
While technology has progressed immensely, humanity has generally maintained the status quo. There is no great alliance, no setting aside materials for the greater good. As people colonized the surrounding star systems, skirmishes broke out over materials and control of key shipping lines. You, dear captain, are right in the middle of one of these skirmishes and need to neutralize the enemy ships to secure the shipping lane for your planetary cartel. Can you manage your warped drive the best and win the battle?
Warped Drive is a space-based, small-scale tactical battle for 2-4 players. Players each pilot a spaceship with a warped drive. The drive is a 4 x 4 grid of cubes with three different functions: move, range and damage. Players select, in secret, a starting cube face and then select a direction and place a cube denoting their action sequence end six cube faces away. Once all players actions are revealed, play happens simultaneously one action at a time, where all movement happens then ships get to fire depending on what actions players have programmed. If a ship is hit, they lose cubes from their warped drive based on the total damage dealt. Once a player loses all of one cube type, the game ends and the player with the most cubes remaining wins.
