Well, Well is a fast-paced game with a very simple concept. Try and land on other's spaces to send them down the well! Just try and avoid going down the well yourself!
Players with SEN will take away added benefits from this game, especially in a setting with guidance provided by either a teacher or learning support assistant. The benefits are as follows:
Resilience/ emotional self-regulation: The fast pace of this game meaning that if the player struggles to accept losing the game, they can quickly be turned around to play again. Adapting the game using the suggestions provided in the box can also tailor-make the experience in order for them to practice their emotional regulation more often.
Turn-taking: As the game can be quite fast, the player will not need to wait too long until it is their turn again. However, the game can be adapted to extend this waiting time, meaning that they can progress and practice further.
Social skills/ empathy: Challenges such as, trying to make each other laugh, can be introduced to the game instead of simple sending to the well. The game can also be played in teams if needed. This can provide a gaming experience that can cater to the development of the player's social skills, empathy and cooperational skills.
Focus/ Attention: The game's fast pace means that not paying attention for a split second can result in losing the game/ losing a piece and therefore the player may be motivated to keep their focus on what is going on for longer than they normally would during the game.
