Description

Story

You're a harmless witch. You don't bother anybody, and most everyone leaves you alone. At the local marketplace you realize that the skies are turning black with storm clouds. Its cyclone season, and every season, a house seems to drop on one or more of your witch friends. And let's face it, you don't want to be attacked by a house simply because that would really ruin your day (and it started out so nicely, too). There aren't many witches left, and you value your skin rather highly, so you better get to safety.

What is it?

Witch season is a game where you and up to 7 of your friends take the role of a witch from Frank L. Baum's land of OZ. You and your friends must take turns playing as the house, flying around the board crushing witches, or as the witches running away from the house and trying to get to safety. The game takes place over a number of rounds equal to the number of players, each taking around 1 to 5 minutes in length. Fully tested with variant rules available to shake things up, Witch Season is the fun family game you've been looking for to spice up your next game night!

tl;dr Rules

(We'd prefer you read the rules available for free as a download, but here you go as a quick super simplified version.)

  • Each player picks a pawn, one player is chosen as the house.

  • The witches roll a d10 to move, trying to reach the house's starting point.

  • The house rolls a d6 to move, and gets to move after every witch moves.

  • If the house ends its turn on the same space as a witch, it can attack it.

  • An attack involves both players rolling a d10, if the witch rolls higher than the house it survives, otherwise it is crushed.

  • Once all witches are dead or a witch reaches the house's starting point, the house pawn is given to the next player and the next round begins.

  • Throughout the game you gain tokens and cards. Points are awarded at the end of the game for all unused tokens and cards, as well as any witches you crushed as the house.
