Word Paths

Word Paths is a 1-4 player tile-placement word game about mapping the most scenic route through an ever-expanding forest. You and your opponents build a shared forest with triangular tiles that each have different word categories or conditions. As you build, travel through paths in the forest by finding words that fit the descriptions from each tile along the way. The longer your path, the more trees you will pass, earning you points. As the categories get more difficult, the forest becomes denser, earning you even more points. Bonuses await the player that can complete a full hexagon of tiles.

How to Play

Each turn, you play a tile, expanding the forest and adding to the available pathways. Every tile has a condition for a word; this can be structural (e.g. "2 syllables"), traditional (e.g. "on a farm") or descriptive (e.g. "heavy"). Using the tile you placed, follow a path across adjacent tiles and state a word that meets all the conditions you pass by.

But it's not just about the word! You score points based on the scenery from your path - the more colored trees you pass by, the more points. You score one point for each colored tree. In this example, the player scores 6 points.

Be strategic about where you place tiles - you'll need to maximize your paths on your turn and take care to avoid leaving a scenic path for your opponent on theirs! And 2 bonus points await any player that can complete a hexagon in the forest, adding depth and decision-making to each turn!
