Wrestlepalooza takes place over several "seasons", where players deploy wrestling talents to various events. These events can range from single-main-event minor attractions to special events, like the Gauntlet, the High in the Sky bout, or the Ring Royalty tournament. Deathmatches and tag team bouts mark unique events along the way, as players navigate their talent along the road to Wrestlepalooza.
At the game start, players draft talent and various modifiers - managers, training, and combat styles - to build the best stable of athletes in the world As gameplay continues, talents earn money and various modifiers to their skill sets. Where events happen matter, as different cities expect different styles of matches. Players must either specialize their talent into specific disciplines - and place them in situations to succeed - or cultivate all-around athletes for utility situations.
Players build their rosters until the biggest event of the year: Wrestlepalooza. At the final event, all talent compete in one last match - scratching tooth and nail for the last dollar.
Wrestlepalooza combines several elements (card drafting, bidding, worker allocation, and dice rolling) under a single, unified theme. Games enjoy a mild amount of randomness, leading to replayability. Wrestlepalooza also provides a base system, allowing easy customization and expansion for homebrew characters.
