The zombie apocalypse has come and a small group of strangers are hiding in a house. It is only after they have boarded up all the doors and windows that they discover one of them has been infected.
Humans try to find weapons and kill the zombie. The zombie tries to infect the humans. At least, that's how it starts out. If the starting zombie plays his cards right then the game turns from many against one to some against some and possibly back to many against one again as more and more humans get infected and become more and more zombies.
The good news is that the only way to be eliminated from the game is if a human kills you. The bad news is that, while they want to kill only zombies, it is possible for a human to accidentally kill another human.
Players plan three actions at a time and actions get resolved at the same time, so it's more than just, "I'm in the same room as the zombie - I attack." Humans have to try and figure out in advance when they will be in the same room as the zombie, and hopefully not any other humans, and commit to an attack in advance.
Note: If you saw the review of Zombie House on Gamers' Remorse that was a beta edition, this has been upgraded to be more affordable. Instead of the thick boards in the beta the house plan is on 10"x10" mats (about the same thickness as a card). Instead of pawns and chips tokens are used for humans, zombies, weapons, and ammunition. The hexagonal 4-card decks have been replaced with rectangular 8-card decks (this allowed for more information to be put on the cards, cleaning up the rules a bit). The rules are still the same.
This game contains laser cut components. Laser cut items will have a slight amount of soot around the edges, which can easily be wiped off; and will have a campfire smell for about a week after you open them.
