Zyre is played in a series of Rounds. In each Round you are trying to match the last card played. Anyone who cannot match the card is out of the Round.
Last person left in the Round wins a Point. The first player to take 7 Points wins the game.
The catch is that the card matching rules keep changing. Cards have color, shape, and number. But you will never use all three of these things to match cards. Each Round, the dealer chooses what the rules will be for matching cards, so how you match cards is constantly shifting.
The deck also has Wild cards and Special cards to keep the game lively and always changing.
As with all Art-Free Games, Zyre comes with a number of Optional Rules you can use to modify how you play the game. But Zyre has more Optional Rules than most of our games. You can combine different Optional Rules to make a thousand ways to play.
Which one will be your favorite?
We believe that artwork is great, and makes a game pretty. But ultimately whether you love a game or hate it will be based on how fun it is to play.
Games are about sitting down with friends and family--and possibly Winnie-ther-Pooh ("ther" is not a typo; look it up)--and having fun.
And so Art-Free Games was born. Our goal is to make enjoyable games that prove you don't need art to have fun.
In the end, it's all about the game.
