Description
Politics: The Debate is a card game about debating politics. Gameplay is straightforward:
There are two types of cards - ISSUES and POLICIES. ISSUES are political problems like a high level of unemployment. POLICIES are the policies, schemes and strategies presented by politicians to solve them, like increasing or decreasing various taxes or arresting the homeless.
Players form a hand of five POLICY cards.
Each turn, a new ISSUE card is turned over.
Each player plays two of the POLICY cards in their hand. They explain how these two policies work to solve the ISSUE.
Players then debate each other, arguing why their policy is best and the other players' are wrong. They then vote on the winner, rinse, and repeat.
Alternative game-modes include Debate mode: players only draw two cards and have to explain & defend their policy, regardless of its use or appropriateness. Attack mode: players add an extra card from their hand to their opponent's played cards, forcing them to explain and defend an altered - often less sensible or ridiculous - set of Policies
