Here’s all you need to do:
The Cursed Kingdom is undeniably a large and relatively expensive game. Its purpose, as a piece of game design, is to integrate card-based gameplay into a full-featured roleplaying game, and, frankly, it's not cheap to print and ship that many cards. I realize what a barrier this presents, so I want you, the potential player, to experience the game before you decide to commit. To that end, the core rulebook is free to download. But, the rules are only half of the equation. What about all those cards? That’s where Demo Decks comes in. Here is a curated set of cards, along with pre-made heroes, monsters, and encounters, priced at around what you might expect to pay for a rulebook from a conventional TTRPG. My hope is that you’ll play Demo Decks to find out what this game is all about, and then consider investing in the core game set.
That said, while Demo Decks was born out of pragmatism, it is still designed to be an entertaining product in its own right. I unabashedly love these new characters I’ve invented, and I crack a grin every time I recall the sample encounters’ silly titles and unexpected twists. I’ve spent such a long time painting this world in broad strokes, and it was a joy to color in these fine details at last. May you have as much fun playing them as I had writing them!
